About Teen Read Week and Book Fair
The Fall El Rancho Charter School Book Fair has officially started. With over hundreds of titles, daily raffles, and an author visit on October 12, students at El Rancho have much to explore this week. In addition, “Teen Read Week is a national adolescent literacy initiative created by the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA). It began in 1998 and is held annually in October the same week as Columbus Day. Its purpose is to encourage teens to be regular readers and library users” (Teen Read Week).

On Friday, October 12, El Rancho Charter School will welcome authors: Charlotte Huang, Julie Buxbaum, Demetra Brodsky, Nicole Maggi, Elissa Sussman, and Cindy Pon. Students will have the opportunity to ask questions and purchase and have books signed. This is a great opportunity for students to learn about the writing process and profession.
