For May, let’s talk Computers with Mr. Coffey! You can take Intro to Computer Applications as a seventh grader in our exploratory wheel and then build your computer knowledge in eighth grade if you find it’s one of your newfound passions.

Mr. Coffey is great at starting from the ground up and giving students a foundation to use and learn about technology that will continue to serve them from high school and beyond, which is one of our focus areas here at El Rancho. We focus on building the whole child for success and giving them the necessary tools to allow them to succeed.

Our El Rancho computer course consists of teaching students how to use Google Workspace (creating documents, presentations, collaborating on documents with other students), learning to use Google as a valuable search engine, and formatting documents. Our students also learn to write interactive stories and computer programs.

One of our favorite things about computers at El Rancho is letting our students use their imaginations to create detailed and beautiful works of art using technology. As technology continues to be a huge part of our lives and is continuing to evolve, having our students take a computer course is incredibly important not only for school but to translate into their future careers.
