From the outside looking in, El Rancho may look like any other middle school. Sitting at a crucial point before high school and its inevitable pressures begin in full, we occupy an important part of our students’ lives. Middle school can act as a launch pad in a child’s development and we do all we can to provide a safe space for exploration and learning on their own terms.
To dive deeper into what makes El Rancho stand out, we decided to get the point of view from some of our own staff.
Read in their own words how our staff members at El Rancho think we’re different, and how we uniquely serve our students:
“Because of the extra freedom to make our own decisions through our charter, we are able to better serve our particular community and the students that we have at El Rancho.” said Science teacher Ali Jordan. “We get to make decisions that are based on our students.”
“At this age, it’s the most awkwardly weird time in most kid’s lives, and having a place to fit in, a place where they can make new friends is so important. We have to remember that these kids need that fun and that engagement every day and El Rancho helps facilitate this opportunity,” continued Jordan.

“The number one philosophy is student first. We all walk through those doors for one reason and one reason only – for the student,” said Business Manager and former El Rancho parent Fran Loeffler.
“El Rancho hasn’t stayed stagnant. We have evolved from all different kinds of new ideas, whether that be from teachers, parents, students. Anything that can push us forward and be better leaders is considered,” said Loeffler.

“We are failing kids if we are not getting them ready for the next step in their educational career and in their lives,” said Spanish teacher Dave Hamman.
“Kids here can find their niche; what they’re interested in, and what their passions are here. We offer strong academics here while making it fun and interesting. We’ve really created a safe place for them to learn,” finished Hamman.
